But before we dive in, what are content calendars and why are they so important?

A content calendar is the go-to source of inspiration for all-things content creation. It is a marketing tool that enables content creators to plan, create, publish, and promote their content in an organized manner. 

It’s important to remember this is a living document that is meant to be a collaborative foundation, and at times as a Creator, you will have to pivot and shift content around—and that’s to be expected! 

 

LTK best practices for creating a content calendar:

1. Define your goals: Use your analytics to determine and plan content

2. Create a template and/or choose your software

  • Software suggestions include:
    • Google Calendar

3. Identify your social channels: Start with LTK and then think about repurposing content to TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, and beyond.

4. Start with the calendar year and outline key dates that performed well previously so you can promote content on the same days this year.

  • Think about:
    • Seasonal moments
    • Sales
    • Holidays
    • Evergreen

5. Determine your publishing cadence across all platforms

  • How many times a day/week/month do you plan on posting to your LTK Shop, Instagram, Instagram Stories, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and/or blog?
  • LTK recommendation: Don’t be too aggressive with your posting cadence. Set realistic goals you know you can hit!

FAQs

When should Creators start posting about a sale or major retail moment?

For social platforms, LTK recommends sharing with your followers 2-3 days before the sale begins and then reminding them when the sale has started! As an LTK Creator, best practice is to start posting to your LTK Shop about sales 2-3 weeks out. As soon as you hear from LTK that a big sale or retail moment is coming, it’s best to start prepping your shop, so that your content will show up and be optimized when the sale begins.

 

Can Creators reuse content for different platforms?

Yes, but be sure to tailor content to each platform! When sharing an outfit, it might make the most sense to share a static image to Instagram feed, a quick video to TikTok with text on screen, and a raw video with you talking to the camera for Instagram Stories. You can successfully drive subscribers and views when you are dropping bread crumbs on each social channel driving to the other.

 

How can Creators gauge key performance indicators (KPI) and shift content plans if something isn’t performing well?

Track your analytics. If you are seeing posts that have consistently poor engagement… Pivot.  Your analytics will reveal what your followers like, when they’re on and what’s converting. If something isn’t working delete it and post what is. If your audience doesn’t care for something you can see it in the engagement and you can definitely see it in your analytics if something isn’t converting. Your analytics are your roadmap and your best friend!
