What exactly is the Explore page?

This page is a collection of Reels, videos, and Stories that are based on the user’s interests. The Instagram algorithm behind the Explore page uses technology to learn what content you engage with to improve the content it recommends to the user, so no two Explore pages are alike.

All Instagram users have to do is tap the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of the app screen to unlock a world of content that appeals to them. Bonus: The user can search for other accounts, hashtags, and locations. Once the user taps on a photo or Reel it will open up a continuous scroll of content that is related to that photo.

How do I show up on the Explore page?

  • Share engaging content: The best way to land on the Explore page is by sharing content your audience wants to see. Use your Instagram insight to see what your top-performing content is and implement that into your content creation. 
    • If your followers engage (comment, like, share, save) with try-on haul videos (Reels) the most then start crafting more. Try to post at least 1-2 per week.

  • Optimize your timing: Give yourself an edge by posting when your followers are online. Track your audience behavior and consider posting best practices, according to Sprout Social.
    • Best times to post: 
      • Mondays at 11 a.m.
      • Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
      • Thursdays and Fridays 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.
    • Best days to post: Tuesdays and Wednesdays
    • Worst days to post: Sundays

  • Keep it fresh with Reels: As previously mentioned 66% of shoppers found short-form video to be the most engaging. Reels are an optimal way to diversify your feed and keep your audience engaged.

  • Mix up your content style: Keep an eye on what’s trending on Instagram and leverage this knowledge into your content mix. And remember, LTK recommends that 20% of your content should be non-shoppable. And to post 1 shoppable Instagram Story for every 3 personal Stories.
     
  • Consistency is key: It’s important to have a steady posting cadence so the Instagram algorithm can see you are an active user with high engagement. LTK recommends posting at least 1 per day, but no more than 3x a day.
