When creating gift guides, think about who your followers will be shopping for this holiday season!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Whether you’re trimming the tree or hosting the perfect holiday party, your followers want to follow along and gain inspiration for their own festivities.

Gift guides are a simple, effective and beautiful way to show your audience what’s on your shopping list this season. Determine the theme of your guide, and then gather images of the products you want to feature. Think about who your readers might be shopping for this season: family, kids, best friends, coworkers, you name it!

BONUS: This is a great opportunity to test out new verticals and see how your audience responds.

We’ve put together a holiday content inspo checklist to help you optimize your content with minimal effort. Work smarter, not harder, right?

Make it personal: Your followers want to see your family’s holiday traditions, like your favorite holiday dishes, unwrapping traditions, or your decorating process! LTK video provides a perfect way to convey personal holiday moments - allowing you to verbally explain and show your holiday traditions. By sharing links to your kitchen cookware, matching PJs and front door wreath, you’re making money off of simple things you already do to enjoy the holidays.

You could also share an advent calendar or take followers along on local holiday outings in your city to encourage a sense of community during the holiday season.

Give the gift of style: Dive into the “why” of your product and sale recommendations with video! Nearly two thirds of shoppers say online video has given them ideas and inspiration for their purchase, so use your video channels (LTK, IG Stories, IGTV, Reels, TikTok and YouTube) to your advantage this season.

BTS vacation prep: Planning a holiday getaway? Share your best tips on how to pack for a winter trip or tropical destination, and be sure to link your carry-on must-haves, suitcase, vaca looks and more. Show your audience how you pack your suitcase using packing cubes, or a special rolling method to fold wrinkle-free clothes.

Save the day: Help out those last-minute shoppers by creating last-minute gift-guides in the two weeks leading up to the December holidays. Free and fast shipping options are huge motivators for shoppers to buy from a specific retailer, so do a gift guide linking out to retailers that offer guaranteed shipping by Christmas. Your followers will thank you later!

Product countdown: Count down to the holidays with your favorite products! Post daily LTKs highlighting a new favorite product every day of the month (think “12 Days of Booties” or “25 Days of Holiday Dresses”) and be sure to tease out your exclusive LTK content series on your social channels.

A toast to the host: Invited to a last minute holiday party? Create an LTK or blog post with the boutique widget of affordable hostess gifts for your readers. A candle, set of wine glasses or house plant will go a long way to show the host how grateful you are.

Stocking stuffer roundup: Feature a LTK guide with last minute gifts to throw in your kids’ or significant other’s stocking. For inspiration, check the ‘Gifts’ tabs of your favorite retailers, which often roundup stocking-stuffers in specific price ranges.

Do a Cyber Week repeat: Check your top converting products from Cyber Week to see what type of item, price point, and retailers converted best, and use this insight to guide your other December gift guides. Feature these products again, or similar options, especially if they are on sale!
